Is your marriage lacking in the Romance department? Then read on….

Ella is in the kitchen trying to make dinner. The pasta is getting ready to boil over and she has her 1-year-old hanging on to one leg. The 4 and 6 year olds are fighting over a toy. The phone is ringing, the door bell’s chiming while the dog is wildly running around the front door barking like crazy.

Ella turns off the pasta, picks up the baby and yells at the dog and kids to be quiet. Whoever was calling will have to leave a message. She tripped over toys getting to the door. Just to find out some one wanted to sell her a vacuum cleaner.

Five minutes later Keith, Ella’s husband comes home from a hard day at work. All he wants to do is take a shower, sit in front of the TV and eat his dinner.

Keith tries to get into the back door, but something is keeping it from opening. He starts banging and yelling for someone to let him in.

Ella goes running to the door just as it flies open and almost knocks her out.

The kids are still fighting, the dogs barking and the baby is crying because mama set him down to get the door.

Keith starts yelling at Ella. “Why don’t you clean up this house, I couldn’t even get in the door. I’m tired and I don’t feel like standing out in the heat after working all day. What have you done all day?”

Mean while Ella’s hurting from getting the door slammed into her face and trying to finish getting dinner ready.

Ella had already had enough with everything going on all at once. Now she’s in pain. “Don’t you come in here and tell me I haven’t done anything all day.

By the way, Thanks for the Bloody nose! You can finish making dinner for you and the kids, I’m out of here!”

Ok…..you can see what’s going to happen next.

Romance?  Not a chance. Both Ella and Keith could have handled things differently but they didn’t know how, so they allowed their flesh to rise up.

Here at the Penewit Center we can help you to “Light the Fire” in your marriage. By understanding each other’s temperament, you will know how to react and approach one other.
